TIG Welding and Orbital Welding Services

TIG Welding and Orbital Welding Services

for Process and High Purity Piping

Not every weld is the same. In standard structural or utility piping work, a sound weld that meets basic visual and pressure test requirements is sufficient. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, high purity water distribution, specialty gas systems, and food processing, the quality of every individual weld directly determines whether the finished system is compliant, contamination-free, and fit for its intended purpose. That level of weld quality requires TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding — and in many high purity piping applications, automated orbital welding that eliminates human variability from joint to joint.

Lovett Mechanical provides certified TIG welding and orbital welding services for process piping, high purity systems, pharmaceutical installations, and specialty applications across Syracuse, NY, Onondaga County, and Central New York.

TIG Welding for Process Piping

TIG welding produces the cleanest, most controllable fusion weld available for stainless steel, high-alloy, and specialty metal piping. The process uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode and inert shielding gas — argon, helium, or mixtures — to create a weld that is free from spatter, slag inclusion, and the surface contamination that other processes introduce. For process piping that will carry corrosive chemicals, pure gases, pharmaceutical intermediates, or food-grade products, TIG welding is the standard.

Our certified TIG welders hold qualifications to ASME Section IX and AWS welding standards and produce welds that support radiographic examination, hydrostatic testing, and the weld log documentation that regulated facilities require for system qualification.

Orbital Welding for High Purity Systems

Orbital welding uses computer-controlled equipment to rotate a TIG electrode around the circumference of a tube or pipe joint automatically, producing a weld of exceptional consistency that is not subject to the day-to-day variation of manual welding. In high purity piping — pharmaceutical water systems (WFI and PW), semiconductor ultrapure water (UPW), high purity gas distribution, and biotech process piping — orbital welding is the industry standard because it delivers the smooth, crevice-free internal weld surface that these applications require.

We perform orbital tube welding on electropolished 316L stainless steel tubing, produce weld logs with the machine parameters for every joint, and document weld coupon qualification to support system validation. For ASME BPE (Bioprocessing Equipment) applications, our orbital welding process is designed to meet the surface finish and dimensional requirements the standard mandates.
