Piping and Installation
High purity water systems are among the most demanding process piping applications in any facility. Pharmaceutical manufacturers, semiconductor operations, biotechnology labs, medical device producers, and research institutions all rely on water that meets strict chemical and microbial purity specifications — and the piping system that delivers it must be designed and installed in a way that maintains that purity from generation point to point of use. Contamination introduced by improper piping materials, fabrication methods, or installation practices can render an entire high purity water system non-compliant.
Lovett Mechanical installs high purity water piping systems for regulated and precision manufacturing facilities across Syracuse, NY, Onondaga County, and Central New York.
High Purity Water System Types We Install
Deionized (DI) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Systems
DI and RO water systems remove dissolved minerals and contaminants to produce water suitable for laboratory, pharmaceutical, and precision manufacturing use. We install the distribution piping loops that carry purified water from the generation system to points of use — in materials compatible with ultra-low conductivity water, which aggressively leaches ions from inadequately specified piping materials.
Water for Injection (WFI) and Pharmaceutical Water Systems
Pharmaceutical-grade water systems — including purified water (PW) and water for injection (WFI) — are regulated under USP standards and FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). Distribution piping must be designed to prevent microbial contamination, typically using continuously recirculating loops that maintain temperature and velocity, with 316L stainless steel electropolished tubing and orbital welded joints. We install WFI and pharmaceutical water systems to these exacting requirements.
Semiconductor, microelectronics, and research applications may require ultrapure water (UPW) at resistivity approaching the theoretical maximum for pure water. Distribution piping for UPW typically uses PVDF or other fluoropolymer materials, and all fabrication is performed in controlled conditions to prevent contamination before the pipe ever sees water.
Why Piping Quality Determines System Quality
In high purity water systems, the pipe, weld, and installation quality directly determines the system output quality. Surface finish, material selection, weld inspection, and loop design — slope for drainability, continuous recirculation velocity, elimination of dead legs — are all specifications we work to on every high purity installation.
