Chemical Distribution

Chemical Distribution Piping Systems

for Industrial and Process Facilities

Chemical distribution systems move acids, caustics, solvents, reagents, and process chemicals through a facility from bulk storage to points of use — and every component in that system must be specified, fabricated, and installed with the chemistry of the fluid in mind. The wrong pipe material, an inadequately rated fitting, or a failed joint in a chemical distribution system doesn’t just cause a maintenance problem. It creates a safety incident, an environmental liability, and a production shutdown.

Lovett Mechanical installs chemical distribution piping systems for manufacturing, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, chemical processing, and research facilities across Syracuse, NY, Onondaga County, and Central New York. We work from chemical compatibility data and process specifications to select appropriate materials and fabrication methods for every application.

Chemical Distribution Piping We Install

  • Acid distribution systems — sulfuric, hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, nitric, and other acid piping in PVDF, FRP, CPVC, or specialty-lined materials selected for concentration and temperature
  • Caustic and alkali piping — sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and similar chemicals in carbon steel, stainless steel, or HDPE as required by concentration and service conditions
  • Solvent distribution piping — in materials rated for the specific solvent, including bonded and grounded systems where flammability demands
  • Reagent and process chemical distribution — pharmaceutical, biotech, and laboratory chemical delivery in appropriate materials with dead-leg-free loop design
  • Bulk chemical unloading and transfer systems — piping from truck or tote unloading stations to bulk storage, with secondary containment considerations
  • Chemical injection systems — metering pump connections, injection quills, and distribution piping for water treatment and process chemical addition

Material Selection and Safety

No single material is appropriate for all chemical distribution applications. We evaluate each chemical’s concentration, temperature, pressure, and any regulatory requirements before selecting pipe and fitting materials — and we document our selections with compatibility data. Secondary containment, ventilation requirements, pressure relief, and emergency shutdown connections are incorporated into our designs where the chemistry demands it.

All of our chemical distribution piping work is performed by trained pipe fitters and certified welders familiar with the hazards of the chemicals involved, working under a safety plan appropriate to the specific installation environment.
